The FIFA U17 World Cup has kick started in Indonesia yesterday and already, Africa’s representatives – Morocco, Mali and U17 AFCON champions, Senegal have all started brightly.
The Moroccans defeated their opponents, Panama 2-0 while Mali thrashed their Uzbekistan counterparts, 3-0. Mamadou Doumbia of Mali is currently the highest goal scorer of the tournament with 3 goals after netting a hattrick against Uzbekistan.
Africa’s champions, Senegal thrashed Argentina 2-0 with highest goal scorer at the U17 AFCON with Amara Diouf scoring a brace for the Taranga cubs.

Africa’s last representative, Burkina Faso are yet to kick a ball. The West Africans will face France in their first game in the tournament.
Africa’s most successful country at the FIFA U17 World Cup, Nigeria missed out of the 2023 edition after crashing out of the U17 AFCON in the quarter finals. Tthe Golden Eaglets of Nigeria have won the tournament 5 times and finished second on three occasions.
