Super Eagles winger Moses Simon has appealed to Nigerians to take pressure off CAF top rated player Victor Osimhen at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Osimhen has only managed a goal in three games, and has missed a couple of chances.
As the team get set for Saturday’s round of 16 encounter against Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions, Simon who was at the Pre Match Press conference alongside coach Jose Peseiro today said it’s not fair to point fingers at a particular player.
He said “We missed a lot of goals in the first game and third game, I missed a goal too and it’s not like we do not want to score, so we can always improve since we create a lot of chances”
“We scored one against Cote D’Ivoire and decided it was enough for all maximum points so we kept our line tight and earned it ”
“Of course we have the top rated striker in our team Victor Osimhen, but he’s not doing the job all alone, it’s a collective thing”.
“When we win, we win together, when we lose, we also lose together, so please let’s not point fingers at a particular player. We want to win against Cameroon and we will definitely go for it”.
The two teams will lock horns on Saturday at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny, Abidjan starting from 8pm local time.
