Jose Peseiro has hinted that Victor Osimhen might not join the Super Eagles in Boukae ahead of the crucial AFCON 2023 semifinal clash with rivlas, South Africa on Wednesday.
The Super Eagles gaffer made this known at the pre-match conference today as he and defender, Ola Aina answered questions form journalists at the Stade de Bouake.
When asked about Osimhen, Jose Peseiro said “I can’t say anything at the moment.”
He continued by saying “later today, I willl have more information but for now I can’t say.”
Osimhen was declared not fit enough to travel by the team’s medics as the team traveled to Bouake on Monday night. The striker had gone through doping tests twice in this tournament after the gams against Cote ‘Ivoire and Cameroon.
The Napoli man will be a big miss if he eventually misses the clash as he has been the main striker for the team in this competition.
On the game, Jose Peseiro said “we want to everything to win the game and get to the final.”
With Nigeria being the only team with 4 straight wins in the tournament, the longest winning streak in the competition, The Super Eagles have been tagged favourites to win the tournament.
However, the head coach played the tag favourites down as he insisted they are not.
“we just want to focus on oursleves. My players and I jsut to go out, do our best in the game and win. We are not favourites in anyway.”
