
Former captain of the Togolese National team Emmanuel Sheyi Adebayor has taken a look at the strength of some top teams at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations and has revealed that he’s tipping the Super Eagles of Nigeria to win.
Due to his Nigerian heritage, Adebayor who was crowned African Footballer of the year in 2008 didn’t hide his support for the three time African Champions when he spoke with Ojodutimes yesterday.
He said “My parents are Nigerians so I’m supporting the Super Eagles here, my idol Nwankwo Kanu who had a lot of influence on my career is also a Nigerian, my very big brother Jay Jay Okocha as well, so I will like to see Nigeria win”.
“Victor Osimhen is the current African Footballer of the year, he’s so strong and energetic so Nigeria have an asset in their hands”.
Adebayor who also played for Tottenham Hotspur, Real Madrid and Crystal palace although admitted that defending champions Senegal are still the team to beat.
“No doubt Senegal is a very strong side, apart from being the defending champion which is a very huge factor, they’ve got experience in all department, you look at Mendy in goal, Koulibaly with the big body in the defense and then Sadio Mane, you will agree with me that they are the team to beat.”.
The 6ft 3 inches tall former striker also said he is wishing Ghana’s Black stars all the best because he’s permanently based in Ghana, at the moment, Adebayor made it known that he has investments in the Ghana so it’s only natural to wish them well.
Above all, the highly successful Ex player wants to have a swell time in the West African country
