Morocco have broken the long stand history of no African country going past the quarter finals of a FIFA World Cup.
The North Africans wrote a new history after defeating Portugal by a lone goal, a header from Sevilla striker, Youssef En-Nesyri.
The Red and Green colours have had an awesome route to achieving this history. They are the only team yet to consider a goal from an opponent in Qatar.
Morocco’s goalkeeper, Yassine Bounou also a Sevilla player has kept 4 clean sheets in five games at this tournament. Bono has faced Belgium, Croatia, Spain and Portugal but is yet to be beaten by anyone.
His performance has seen him lead the clean sheets standing at this tournament with 4 clean sheets from 5 games. This record is also held by Italy’s Gianluigi Buffon who also didn’t concede against an opponent until the finals of the 2006 World Cup in Germany.
After seeing off the big boys in the tournament, another big boy in the defending champions, France stand in the way of the Arab-Africans to further make more history. The semifinal clash between both teams will be another test for Morocco and their coach, Walid Regragui.
